Iran President Hassan Rouhani will arrive in India today for his three day visit. On Wednesday the External Affairs Ministry announced the Iran President’s arrival today after Prime Minister Modi’s invite.
On Saturday, Rouhani will visit Modi in Delhi and hold bilateral meetings. The Ministry’s statement said the two leaders would discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest. The Iran President will also meet with the President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
Rouhani will first arrive in Hyderabad and meet the Muslim Ulemas in the City. He will also address Iranian nationals and students in India. On Saturday, the two leaders are expected to sign a number of agreements after their bilateral talks.
In 2016, Modi visited Tehran where he signed a trilateral agreement on transit and transport with Iran and Afghanistan. India also decided to commit $ 85 million for the development of the Shahid Beheshti Port in Iran’s Chabahar city.
Dr. Hassan Rouhani will conduct Friday prayers at Hyderabad’s Makkah Masjid. The President is also expected to address Muslim intellectuals, community leaders and clerics in Hyderabad. President Rouhani will also visit a few landmarks in Hyderabad like the Qutub Shahi tombs at Golconda. He will pay his respects to the founders of Hyderabad with Irani lineage.
