On the 29th of October, 5 labourers from West Bengal were killed in a terrorist attack in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The terrorist hiding in Kulgam open fired at the labourers and also targeted the paramilitary personnel deployed at a school in Pulwama district.

Dilbag Singh, the Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, addressed the media and said, “We have rushed a police party headed by the Deputy Inspector General of South Kashmir.”

The Jammu and Kashmir Police official said the labourers were from Murshidabad, West Bengal and were residing at a local resident’s home in Kulgam when the terrorists attacked them.

Out of the 5 deceased labourers, three were identified as Sheikh Kamrudin, Sheikh Mohammed Rafiq and Sheikh Murnsulin.  Three labourers are still missing, whereas Zahooruddin, another labourer, is at the Anantnag district hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, expressed grief and said, “We are shocked and deeply saddened at the brutal killings in Kashmir. Five workers from Murshidabad lost their lives. Words will not take away the grief of the families of the deceased. All help will be extended to the families in this tragic situation.”

The terrorists attacked the migrants in Jammu and Kashmir when foreign delegates from the European Union (EU) were on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir to observe the current situation at ground level.

A foreign delegation is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir and is speaking to locals to find out about the changes which took place after the abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Ever since Article 370 was scrapped by the Central Government, terrorists have been targeting and attacking migrants, especially labourers, truck drivers and others in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Kulgam area in South Kashmir and launched a search operation with additional security forces.
