On the 22nd of February, the Jammu and Kashmir Police informed two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter.
The encounter broke out on the night of the 21st of February, between the terrorists and Jammu and Kashmir security forces in the Sangam area of Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the police officials, the encounter broke out during a search operation, based on an intelligence input about the militants hiding in the area.
The terrorists opened fire at security forces and in retaliation, two terrorists identified as members of the terrorist group LeT died.
A joint team of security forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police officials launched a search operation and cordoned off the area.
The security officials also recovered weapons, an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from the encounter spot.
