Jignesh Mevani decided to take a jab at Narendra Modi after winning the Vadgam seat as an Independent candidate. Mevani said the Prime Minister should retire and go to the Himalayas. The Gujarat Assembly Elections’ victorious candidate was quoted saying, “Even at 70, Mod is calling himself youth.”
Mevani also admitted he took a donation of Rs. 51,000 for his campaign from the Popular Front of India (PFI.) He said, “If PFI is a dubious group, then what is the man with a 56-inch chest doing? Why has there been no action from him?”
On Monday, the newly elected MLA took a shot at the BJP on Twitter. Mevani joked the BJP won only 99 seats and the Country is looking at a change in power for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
Mevani boldly said he was not apologetic, “That is because Modi promised that he would ensure two crore youth are given employment every year. It’s been four years now, and eight crore youth should have been employed by now. Now, he doesn’t even mention the youth.”
Jignesh Mevani beat his BJP opponent Vijay Chakravarti to win the Vadgam seat with the support of the Congress Party.
