Yashoda, the wife of Kanhaiya Lal, a resident of Udaipur, Rajasthan, who was murdered brutally, demanded the death penalty for her husband’s murderers.

On the 29th of June, Wednesday, Yashoda said, “We demand those people who murdered him should be hanged to death.  We demand their death sentence and need justice.”

Notably, Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in the Udaipur region of Rajasthan, allegedly supported the suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP), Ms. Nupur Sharma, in a Facebook post.  After the post, he was getting threats including murder warnings.  Regarding this, Kanhaiya Lal even wrote to the district police, demanding security.  However, the police failed to ascertain the demand and neglected his request.  According to sources, Kanhaiya Lal registered a case against the threats on the 15th of June.

After a fortnight, on the 29th of June, two people, posing as customers, came to Kanhaiya’s shop and brutally murdered him.

The killing of a tailor in Udaipur has created a national ruckus, with political parties and leaders coming in support of the family.  When asked about police negligence, the Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Mr. ML Lather said, they have taken action and suspended an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Udaipur in this matter.

The police also said, one of the accused, Gaus Mohammed has a connection with a Pakistan-based radical outfit, Dawat e Islami.  The investigation into the matter is also underway.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Gehlot is scheduled to visit the family members of Kanhaiya Lal on the 30th of June. Mr. Ashok Gehlot, accompanied by the Minister of State for Home Mr. Rajendra Yadav, the Rajasthan Chief Secretary Ms. Usha Sharma, DGP ML Lather, and other senior officials, would reach Udaipur, by a special plane, around 1:00 P.M.

Furthermore, the curfew with internet service suspension is still in place, to avoid untoward incidents.
