In Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district, a horrific accident was reported on the later evening of the 1st of October, Saturday.
In a tragic accident, a tractor trolley carrying pilgrims from a temple in the Unnao region, approximately 26 people have been killed so far, confirmed sources, on the 2nd of October. Notably, the tractor-trolley met with an accident after it lost control and fell into a pond last night, while returning with pilgrims from the Chandrika Devi temple in Unnao.
The tractor reportedly had 50 pilgrims onboard, which overturned and caused death of 26 people and left others severely injured. The police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with locals, which is still underway. The injured has been shifted to the community hospitals in Kanpur and are currently undergoing treatment. Moreover, 5 severely injured people, in critical condition have been referred to Kanpur hospital for better treatment.
Meanwhile, Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, expressed his condolences for those who lost their kins and family members in the major accident. In addition, Mr. Narendra Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh to the families of those who died.
Moreover, Mr. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, also condoled the deaths of the pilgrims.
On the other hand, the Uttar Pradesh and Kanpur police registered a case and launched an investigation into the tragic accident in Ghatampur region, Kanpur.
