After two missed deadlines, the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD[S]) is going to conduct the floor test on the 22nd of July.

Vajubhai Vala, the Governor of Karnataka, on the 20th of July, asked the JD(S) to conduct the no confidence motion by 6:00 P.M., on the 20th of July.

However, with arguments about the absence of 20 Members of the Legislative Assembly at the time in Vidhana Soudha, K.R. Ramesh Kumar, the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, postponed the floor test to the 22nd of July.

Today, finally after missing its deadline, the floor test will decide the fate of the Karnataka Government. With the strength of 101 MLAs in favour, the trust vote will have a fruitful result for the opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) as the BJP has 105 MLAs in the State.

H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, appealed to the MLAs to be present at the Assembly and save the JD(S) Government. However, the MLAs turned down the appeal and said, “We thought this government will do good to the State but it did not happen. There is no question of our attending the Assembly session tomorrow.”

The rebel MLAs, on the 21st of July, filed a petition with the Supreme Court (SC,) seeking an order for K.R. Ramesh Kumar to conduct the trust vote by 5:00 P.M., on the 22nd of July.

In all this chaos and tension, the Shiv Sena Party leaders and Mayawati Das, the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) showed their support to the current Government of Karnataka.

Mayawati Das also directed N. Mahesh, a MLA of Karnataka, to vote in favour of the JD(S.) She also took to Twitter and shared the directions given to Mahesh.

The BJP leaders, INC leaders and JD(S) leaders, along with the MLAs, will attend the no confidence motion.

Stay tuned for further updates.
