Kisan March: 35,000 Farmers At Azad Maidan in Mumbai

Farmers walked in the blazing sun with aching feet for around 180 Kms to reach Mumbai from Nashik district. Nearly 35,000 farmers marched into the city stating that being a farmer is not favorable for them anymore.

They will gather around the State Assembly today to press the Government to meet their demands. The farmers are asking for fair pay, complete loan waiver and transfer of Adivasi land to the farmers.

On Sunday the farmers made a grueling march from Nashik district to Mumbai. With blistered feet and red communist flags, the road looked like a red sea. Once they reached Mumbai Senior Minister in the CM Fadnavis’ Cabinet Girish Mahajan welcomed the marchers at Mulund.

Girish explained the Government had agreed to a few demands earlier but will now consider the new list as well. The farmers arrived at Azad Maidan and plan to march to the Assembly 2 Kms away. But Government sources revealed the march will not be allowed past the Azad Maidan.

But the Government will allow a delegation from the farmers to meet Chief Minister Fadnavis at Vidhan Bhavan.
