Ajit Pawar, a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP,) once again became the Deputy Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra. 

After being the Deputy CM of Maharashtra for 48 hours under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government, Ajit Pawar once again was selected as the Deputy CM, but this time under the Government led by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Indian National Congress (INC) alliance.

The Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra Government expanded its Cabinet on the 30th of December.

With the Cabinet expansion, approximately 36 ministers were inducted into the Cabinet of Maharashtra.  While Ajit Pawar took the oath of office as the Deputy CM, Aaditya Thackeray took the oath as one of the Cabinet ministers.  Rajesh Tope, Vijendra Awhad, Amit Deshmukh, Nawab Malik, Dilip Walse Patil, Dhananjay Munde, Ashok Chavan and few others took the oath as Cabinet ministers at the swearing in ceremony.

However, the portfolios of all the Cabinet ministers are yet to be announced.

INC, NCP and Shiv Sena leaders, members and other top officials of Maharashtra attended the oath taking ceremony organised at Vijaya Bhavan, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
