Sonia Gandhi, the interim President of the Indian National Congress (INC) and Sharad Pawar, the President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP,) are scheduled to meet on the 18th of November.
The meeting was organised to discuss the alliance strategy and power sharing formula between the INC, the NCP and the Shiv Sena. After the Shiv Sena ended its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Chief Minister’s post, the NCP-INC alliance conducted several talks and agreed to support the Shiv Sena in forming the Maharashtra Government.
After today’s meeting, both the parties, the NCP and the INC, would meet the Shiv Sena and hold discussions about the formation of the Government of Maharashtra.
Mr. Pawar addressed the media and said under the leadership of the Shiv Sena, the Shiv Sena-NCP-INC alliance would form the next State Government.
Nawab Malik, a leader of the NCP, addressed the media and said, “We had had a discussion over the current political situation in the State, and we have come to the conclusion that the President’s rule should end and an alternative government should be formed (sic.)”
The meeting between Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi is scheduled at 5:00 P.M.
