In Maharashtra’s Raigad region, a massive landslide occurred on the night of the 19th of July, Wednesday midnight, resulting in the death of 5 people, and leaving 3 injured.
After the tragic disaster, the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation. So far, the teams has rescued 22 people, feared to be trapped under the debris. In addition, approximately 75 people have been evacuated from Isralvadi village in Raigad, Maharashtra.
The landslide on the intervening night of the 19th and the 20th of July happened due to a heavy downpour in the State.
Meanwhile, Minister for Relief and Rescue Girish Mahajan has been on the site since midnight, coordinating with the rescue and relief operations. In addition, Mr. Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, also arrived at the site and looked into the rescue operation and expressed grief for the families who lost their kin in the tragic landslide.
Furthermore, the NDRF teams took to Twitter and shared a video of the ongoing rescue operation to save people.
A control room has also been set up in the region.
The rescue operation is underway and figures of the deceased and injured people are likely to increase.
