On the 25th of February, the First Lady Melania Trump visited a  government school in Moti Bagh, Delhi to take a “Happiness Class.”

Happiness Class is a programme initiated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) the ruling Party in Delhi,  which includes various fun activities like meditation, happy streets, stress release classes as a curriculum syllabus.  The Delhi Government introduced the programme in July 2018.

Melania Trump who is on a solo visit to the government school, was welcomed by  students with the flags of India and the United States of America .

The First Lady Melania Trump reached the school around 12:00 P.M., and interacted with students for an hour.

Officially, the leaders of the Delhi Government and Chief Minister of Delhi should welcome Ms. Trump on her visit to schools.  However, the U.S. Embassy informed the AAP leaders and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia that their names on the list of invitees for the event was missing, hence, respecting the  Embassy’s concern they did not receive Ms. Trump.

Arvind Kejriwal, the President of the AAP, took to Twitter and shared the same.  He said, it is a “protocol” and “convention” that state leaders should be present when any foreign leader attends events in their states.  Mr. Kejriwal blamed the Central Government, ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for excluding their names from invitees. However, Arvind Kejriwal felt happy, that AAP’s work was being recognised. Mr.Kejriwal said, “It is a big appreciation for us that the work of (the) AAP Government in (the) education sector, especially Happiness Classes is being recognised in the world.”

Mr. Kejriwal was also excluded from attending the dinner organised in the honour of Donald Trump, the President of the U.S., First Lady Melania Trump, Trump’s daughter  Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the son in law.

While Melania Trump is on a tour of Delhi government schools, Donald Trump was busy conducting bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House, Delhi.

Later in the day, Mr. Trump is scheduled to hold a press conference, following which he would attend the dinner hosted by Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The dinner is scheduled to begin at 8:00 P.M.

Donald Trump is scheduled to depart to U.S.A., later on the night of the 25th of February.
