Mithun Chakraborty Joins BJP In Front Of PM Modi To Fulfill His Life Long Dream

Bollywood veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, recently on the 7th of March, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

Mr. Chakraborty who once was a Trinamool Congress (TMC) member joined the BJP in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Sunday, the 7th of March, PM Modi addressed a public rally at Brigade Garden in Kolkata, West Bengal.

The joining of Mr. Chakraborty came at the time of West Bengal Assembly elections.

When asked about the reason behind Mithun Chakraborty’s joining in the BJP, he said, “You can me selfish or anything else. But the reason behind my selfishness is that I want to be with poor people, I want to fight for them.”

Mr. Chakraborty said, he had a lifelong dream to help the poor and now with the BJP, this dream could be fulfilled. He added that he is confident that the BJP would win the Assembly election in West Bengal against the TMC.

Opening about his dream, Mr. Mithun said, “Since I was 18 years old, I had a dream that I will stay with the poor people, I will help them, I will get them their due respect.” He further added, the senior leaders of the BJP made the party a great success in the State. He said, “(The) BJP is making the Government, that’s for sure. And (sic,) if we can all fulfil the Prime Minister’s dream of a Sonar Bangla, I will be the proudest man.”

Speaking about his decision to be a Rajya Sabha member (Member of Parliament) of the TMC, Mr. Chakraborty said “I left (as Rajya Sabha MP), I don’t want to point fingers at anyone that it was their fault. It was my bad decision. Let’s end that topic here.”

Mithun Chakraborty quit the TMC within two years of his Rajya Sabha nomination. His quitting came in 2016 after he was named in the Saradha chit fund case. He was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate on Rs. 1.2 crores he had received from the group as fee for becoming brand ambassador of a TV news channel the Saradha group financed.

However, he denied the allegations, returned the money and quit the Rajya Sabha as well as the Trinamool Congress (TMC.)

He said, “Jaante to sabhi hai ke dada kya karte hai (Everyone knows what dada does.)”

In 2021 March, West Bengal would contest for 294 seats. The elections would be held in 8 phases, beginning from the 27th of March, and would continue till the 29th of April.

This year, elections in West Bengal are witnessing a different wave with the Central leaders including PM Modi campaigning for the elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is eying to rule West Bengal and dethrone the ruling TMC.

The West Bengal would have a major effects on the Indian politics. If the BJP secures a majority of seats and becomes ruler in West Bengal, it would be the first victory in Eastern States.

It would be a tough fight between the two time West Bengal Government TMC and the BJP.

Other parties contesting the upcoming West Bengal elections are the Communist Party of India (Marxist,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.)
