In the ongoing Monsoon Parliament session, the opposition parties are likely to raise the price hike issue in the Rajya Sabha.

On the 2nd of August, Tuesday, the opposition leaders would discuss the issue of price rise, which is an issue for the majority of people in India, including middle class people across India.  Many essential regular commodities are increased with a tax of 5%.  As per the revised list of business of the Rajya Sabha, Mr. Elamaram Kareem, Mr. Bikash Bhattacharya, Mr. John Brittas, Mr. A.A. Rahim, Mr. V. Sivadasan, Mr. Keshava Rao, Mr. K.R. Suresh Reddy, Mr. B. Lingaiah Yadav, Mr. Derek O’ Brien, Mr. Mausam Noor, Mr. Santanu Sen, Ms. Rajni Ashikrao Patil, Ms. Phulo Devi Netam, Mr. Fauzia Khan, Mr. Manoj Kumar Jha and Mr. P.Wilson will raise a discussion on the rising prices of essential items.

Notably, after days of protest, the price rise issue was finally raised in the Lok Sabha, on the 1st of August.  Similarly, the matter is now scheduled for a debate and detailed discussion in the Rajya Sabha, on the 2nd of August, Tuesday.

Mr. Piyush Goyal, the Union House Minister and leader of the house said, “The Opposition had collectively assured us once the date is finalised and listed, we will allow the House to run properly.  Many members have important issues and I appeal to members from the Opposition to allow the House to function smoothly.”

Furthermore, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government would move the Family Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2022′ for passing and consideration.   The Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju would move ‘The Family Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2022’ to amend the Family Courts Act, 1984, as passed by the Lok Sabha, to be taken into consideration and for passing.

Notably, the 2022 Monsoon Parliament Session, especially the Rajya Sabha (the Upper House) has seen regular disruptions from the opposition benches who have been demanding discussion on the price rise and other issues.
