Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took an aerial survey of the areas in Bihar hit by floods.

After the survey, PM Modi announced Rs. 500 crores for immediate relief for Bihar. Apart from the relief fund he also announced Rs. 2 lakhs to the next of kin of the people who died in the floods.

Modi further reported that a central team will be sent to the state to assess the damage due to the floods. The Prime Minister’s office has instructed insurance companies to send their personnel immediately to analyze the damage to crops so the farmers can get the required relief.

It has been estimated that around 2,000 crores was spent for the distribution of food and other services to the stranded population of the state.

At present, the death toll in the Bihar floods has increased to 418 on Friday and 1.67 crore people from 19 districts have been affected.
