A couple in Odisha sold their newborn baby for Rs 12,000, on January 29.
The couple, a resident of the Jajpur district in Odisha, allegedly sold their girl child to a relative, who happens to be childless. The couple allegedly was unable to raise another child and to avoid it, sold off their fourth daughter. After the Delivery of a baby girl at a community health center, the couple decided to sell her. In addition, about the deal, the Community Health Centre of the district also had no idea regarding the matter
Notably, the couple is a daily wage laborer and unable to feed the family of six, as they already have three daughters. Although the case happened on the 29th of January, the matter gained media concentration, a day later, on the 30th of January.
Meanwhile, the Jajpur District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Tapan Kumar Panda registered a case and is investigating the matter.
The police also took the child and ensure to rescue her and her safety.
