The new notes will come into circulation alongside the old notes. This decision was declared after RBI decided to issue new Rs. 20 and Rs. 50 denominations with ascending numerals and without intaglio printing.

After Demonetisation on November 8, the RBI has come up with various changes in the new and old currency notes in hopes to curb the counterfeiting of notes. Economic Affairs Secretary, Shaktikanta Das had said that this new currency will be infused gradually in the system and the old series notes will be phased out.
