In order to create awareness and emphasized on the need of electric vehicles, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, the Union Transport Minister arrived at Parliament in a green hydrogen-powered car.

On the 30th of March, Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader traveled in a green hydrogen car, from his residence to Parliament in Delhi.  The car is one of its kind in India, and would be the future of India.  Mr. Nitin Gadkari said that the hydrogen car is the future.  He added, “Prime Minister Modi has also mentioned this and this is a big step towards becoming a self-reliant India.  Petrol diesel causes pollution, but hydro fuel cell cars do not cause pollution.”  He further explained that “There are three types of hydrogen.  It is green hydrogen and its price will be Rs 1.5 per kilometer.  Its Japanese name is Mirai.”

The BJP leader explained the need for green hydrogen cars, especially when the fuel, petrol and diesel prices are skyrocketing.  Notably, on the 30th of March, fuel prices increased for the 8th time in the past one week, which currently increased by Rs 5/ liter.  In metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, the prices of petrol even crossed Rs. 100 mark.

Earlier this month, the Union Minister launched India’s first hydrogen-based advanced Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, the Toyota Mirai.  He said, “Green Hydrogen – An efficient, eco-friendly and sustainable energy pathway to make India ‘Energy Self-reliant’.”
