The Union Minister Piyush Goyal on the 9th of October, was assigned the additional charge of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Mr. Goyal is currently serving as the Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce and Industry in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led Government.
Mr. Goyal, also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was given the additional charge following the death of Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) founder and thr Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
Ram Vilas Paswan, 74 years old passed away on the night of the 8th of October. He was admitted at a private hospital in Delhi and was undergoing treatment for his recent surgery.
oliticians across party lines expressed their grief upon receiving the news of Paswan’s death.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other politicians expressed their condolences for the demise of Mr. Paswan.
