Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, expressed concerns about the news of rioting and vandalism against the State institutions in Brasilia.
On the 8th of January, Mr. Narendra Modi shared a tweet expressing his thought that democratic traditions must be respected by everyone. He further added that India extends its full support to the Brazilian authorities.
The tweet shared on a Monday morning read, “Deeply concerned about the news of rioting and vandalism against the State institutions in Brasilia. Democratic traditions must be respected by everyone. We extend our full support to the Brazilian authorities.”
On Sunday, thousands of supporters of former Brazilian President Mr. Jair Bolsonaro stormed the nation’s Congress, Supreme Court and presidential offices to protest what they falsely claim was a stolen election.
Mr. Lula, 77 year old Leftist leader took office a week ago after beating Bolsonaro in Brazil’s bitterly divisive October national elections.
Disappointed with the Hardline Bolsonaro supporters have been protesting outside army bases, calling for a military intervention to stop Lula from taking power since he defeated Bolsonaro.
Bolsonaro has rejected President Lula’s “baseless” accusations that he incited the riots.
