The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the 17th of June, announced an all party meeting to discuss the ongoing India-China situation. 

The PMO took to Twitter and said, “In order to discuss the situation in India-China border areas, the Prime Minister has called for an all party meeting at 5:00 P.M., on the 19th of June.  Presidents of various political parties would take part in the virtual meeting. 

The meeting would discuss the death of as many as 20 soldiers of the Indian Army, clash with the Chinese Army and their land in Indian territory. 

The meeting comes two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met chief ministers of various states of India to discuss the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. 

The Prime Minister has been part of numerous meetings since news of the most significant India-China clash happened.

Mr. Modi in regard to this conducted a meeting with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the CDS, the three Armed Forces Chiefs and EAM Jaishankar recently.

On the 17th of June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter handle of the Bharatiya Janata Party and addressed Nation over the demise of Indian soldiers. 

Narendra Modi said, “We will not compromise with our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We have shown our strength when it comes to protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. We have showcased our abilities. Sacrifice is part of our Indian tradition. But, valour and bravery is equally a part of our tradition. I want to assure the nation that the sacrifices of our jawans will not go in vain. For us, India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is most important. No one can stop us from protecting this. No one should have a doubt about this. India wants peace. But on being provoked, India has the ability to give a befitting response under any circumstances. The country will be proud that our brave martyrs were killed after valiantly killing many (Chinese soldiers.)”

The clash started on the night of the 15th of June (Monday,) after Indian Army allegedly crosses the border of China twice. 

Zhao Lijian, the spokesperson of Chinese Government said, India crossed their border twice and entered China illegally “provoking and attacking Chinese personnel, resulting in serious physical confrontation between border forces on the two sides.”

This is the first clash between India and China since 45 years, 1975.
