On the 14th of April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, political leaders and others remembered Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 130th Birth Anniversary. 

Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on the 14th of April 1891. His birthday is observed as an annual festival to celebrate Bhim Jayanti Or Equality Day across India.

Bhim Rao Ambedkar was known for his campaign against discrimination towards the untouchables (Dalits) and supported the rights of women and workers. He died on the 6th of December 1956.

Babasaheb Ambedkar is also the awardee of the highest civilian Bharat Ratna Award, conferred to him in 1990.

PM Modi on the occasion paid his tribute and said, “I bow to Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on AmbedkarJayanti. His struggle to bring the marginalised sections of the society into the mainstream will continue to be an example for every generation.”

Mr. Narendra Modi took his official Twitter handle and said, “भारत रत्न डॉ. बाबासाहेब अम्बेडकर को उनकी जयंती पर शत-शत नमन। समाज के वंचित वर्गों को मुख्यधारा में लाने के लिए किया गया उनका संघर्ष हर पीढ़ी के लिए एक मिसाल बना रहेगा।

I bow to the great Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on #AmbedkarJayanti.”

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana also remembered the services of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and his effort to make India a secular nation. The one who was behind the formation of the Constitution of India was an inspiration to many political leaders and ministers in India.

KCR on the occasion of his birth anniversary said, “The State Government is implementing several schemes and programmes for the welfare and development of the oppressed classes taking inspiration from Ambedkar. For the development of Dalits based on their population figures a Special Development Fund is created through the SC Sub Plan Act. Under the Act, the funds, which are not spent in a financial year, are transferred to the next year without diverting them to other departments.”

K. Chandrashekar Rao also said, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government is working to pave the way for inter caste marriages by encouraging them, making the State a casteless society.

The Indian National Congress (INC) leader Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter and said, “India is now proving that it is indeed possible to regress in time.

Today, we remember Babasaheb who asked the difficult questions that helped put our country on the path of progress.”

M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India, remembered Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and paidpaid a floral tribute at Uppa Rashtrapati Nivas.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also said, “Today we remember the architect of the Indian Constitution and his unflinching commitment to social justice. At a time when even the fundamental character of our Constitution is under attack, on this #AmbedkarJayanti we renew our pledge to stand resolute in its defence.”
