Mr. Pramod Sawant, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader took oath as the Chief Minister of Goa, on the 28th of March, Monday.
The oath taking ceremony was held at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigao, Goa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah and other BJP leaders from Delhi and Goa, attended the swearing-in ceremony. With this, Mr. Pramod Sawant took over as the Goa Chief Minister for the second term, after the BJP won the 2022 Assembly elections. Although the BJP won only 20 seats of the total 40, with the support of the independent candidates and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), the BJP emerged as the largest party in the Goa, and formed the State Government for a second term.
Meanwhile, besides Mr. Pramod Sawant, the BJP leaders Mr. Vishwajit Rane, Mr. Mauvin Godinho, Mr. Ravi Naik, Mr. Nilesh Cabral, Mr. Subhash Shirodkar, Mr. Rohan Khaunte, Mr. Govind Gaude and Mr. Atanasio Monserrate also took oath as Goa’s cabinet ministers.
