On the 30th of July, a video of a conversation between Rajasthan Assembly Speaker C.P. Joshi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav Gehlot has gone viral.

In the video, Mr. Joshi was heard talking about the Rajasthan Government political crisis. Mr. Joshi was talking to Vainhav and saying, if 30 Members of the Legislative (Assembly) had gone, the situation would have been tough.

C.P. Joshi said, “Nothing could have been done had 30 MLAs left the camp.  Then, you could have done nothing and they could have toppled the Government.”

On the other hand, Vaibhav in the video said the situation now is similar to the one before the Rajya Sabha polls.

During the Rajya Sabha polls, the Indian National Congress (INC) MLAs were shifted to a hotel.

According to sources, the video which went viral was shot at Mr. Joshi’s residence on the 29th of July.

After the video went viral, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded the resignation of C.P. Joshi.

Satish Poonia, the President of the BJP in Rajasthan, demanded the resignation of the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker on the moral grounds for being biased.

Mr. Poonia said, “The Speaker is not talking to any ordinary person but to the son of Ashok Gehlot.  In such a situation, it is clear that he is not impartial but supporting the Congress (INC.)”

Satish Poonia termed the situation as unconstitutional and asked for a resignation from C.P. Joshi.

Mr. Satish further said, “Speaker C.P. Joshi seems more concerned about saving the Government.  His inclination towards the ruling party is evident in the video which is against the constitutional post he is holding.  Speaker is supposed to be a neutral post.”

In the past few weeks, the Rajasthan Government witnessed a  turmoil with its MLAs.  Following the matter, the INC removed Sachin Pilot from the Party as the Deputy Chief Minister and 3 other Cabinet ministers.

Meanwhile, as many as 18 MLAs were given disqualification notices for not attending the party meeting during the ongoing political tension.

If the MLAs claimed by Sachin Pilot resignsresign from the Party, the INC might lose power and become the minority.

However, the INC claimed to be in the majority.  If the floor test takes place during the expected Assembly session, the INC is still in majority.

After disqualification notices were issued to 18 MLAs and Sachin Pilot, INC claimed to have the support of 102 MLAs.

On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had 72 MLAs of the BJP and 21 independent MLAs of the total 200 Rajasthan Assembly seats.

The majority mark to form the State Government is 101.

Stay tuned for further updates.
