On the evening of the 19th of June, Rajya Sabha elections were declared after a smooth conduct of polling.
Amid the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus Or COVID-19, 10 Indian states went for Rajya Sabha elections for 19 seats.
Out of 19 seats, BJP won 8 seats, the Indian National Congress (INC) won 4 seats, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) won 4 seats and JMM won 1 seat and the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) won 1 seat.
The polling were held in 7 states for 19 seats. Andhra Pradesh had 4 Raha Sabha seats, Rajasthan (3 seats,) Madhya Pradesh (3 seats,) Gujarat (4 seats,) Jharkhand (2 seats) and one each from Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram.
With this, the current strength of Rajya Sabha seats would be 244, out of which the BJP has 86 members, the Indian National Congress has 41 while other parties have 27 seats.
The Rajya Sabha elections would be held in a phased manner due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus.
