On Friday, the Government decided to extend the deadline to link your Aadhaar Card to your pan. Earlier, the deadline was set for the 31st of December 2017 but now it has been postponed to the 31st of March 2018.
The Finance Ministry released a statement that read, “It has come to notice that some of the taxpayers have not yet completed the linking of PAN with Aadhaar. Therefore, to facilitate the process of linking, it has been decided to further extend the time for linking of Aadhaar with PAN till March 31, 2018.”
This is the third time the deadline has been postponed. Initially, it was set to the 1st of July 2017 but due to the problems faced by taxpayers, it was postponed to the 31st of August.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court explained it would be hearing the applications submitted for interim relief from linking the Aadhaar Card for various schemes. Attorney General K. K. Venugopal said the deadline was pushed to 2018 before the Constitution Bench’s verdict. The hearing is likely to happen next week.
