TTV Dinakaran Held For Trying to Bribe the EC

The Delhi Crime Branch on Monday issued an arrest warrant against AIADMK deputy General Secretary and Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dinakaran. Dinakaran is accused of trying to the bribe the Election Commission for trying to buy the AIADMK two leaves symbol.

The police had recovered Rs. 1.3 crores from Dinakaran’s aide while he tried to bribe the EC officials. The police had booked IPC sections 170, 120b and 8PoC against Dinakaran. A senior police official, speaking to the press had said, “It has been learned that Sukesh had struck a deal for Rs 50 crore for helping the AIADMK faction keep the ‘two leaves’ symbol. Police have recovered Rs 1.30 crore from Sukesh and two cars, a BMW and a Mercedes, have also been seized.”

The RK Nagar Bypolls were set to be conducted on April 12. But these were postponed after the parties violated the code of conduct using the power of money. The EC said that the ‘electoral process was seriously violated’ by AIADMK Amma, Sasikala’s camp. After the party split into two, Sasikala’s supporters and Panneerselvam’s supporters, the EC froze the party symbol of two leaves.

According to a popular news daily, Sukesh Chandrasekhar, Dinakaran’s aide was arrested from Hyatt Hotek on Sunday night. The Police has issued a notice to Dinakaran to be present for investigation.
