The counting of votes for the Assembly elections held in 5 states, Manipur, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand started at 8:00 A.M., on the 10th of March, Thursday.  

According to sources, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in Uttar Pradesh, whereas the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading by a huge margin (31 seats) in Punjab.  Furthermore, in Uttarakhand, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are leading on equal seats, 4 each and in Goa, the BJP is leading in 6 Assembly seats.

The counting of votes are being conducted smoothly in all the five states by the Election Commission of India officers. 

Notably, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab are the two major states, witnessing the tough fight with the maximum numbers of Assembly seats, with 403 and 117 seats.  Besides Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand also have a total of 40,60 and 70 seats, respectively. 

As per trends now, BJP is leading in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur, hoping to retain power in the four states, whereas in Punjab, the Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP could be a big win.

Final results would be announced after the rounds of counting in all the 5 states.
