After thirty nine years, West Bengal once again created history as it runs India’s first underwater metro.

On the 12th of April, the Kolkata Metro Official along with Metro Railway General Manager Mr. P. Uday Kumar Reddy traveled from Mahakaran station in Kolkata to Howrah Maidan.  Later, another reck was carried from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade.

After years of construction, the most awaited metro station of Kolkata and India is finally ready for operation soon.  After the trail runs for the next seven months, the metro services between Howrah Maidan to other areas, would be open for regular services.  The trial runs on the 4.8 km stretch of the underground section will commence soon.

Speaking of the metro, the origin point Howrah Maidan station is the deepest, 33 meters below surface.

The citizens of Howrah and West Bengal are sharing the videos and images of the trail runs, feeling proud that West Bengal once again became the first to run metros, and now the first to run underwater metros.
