The Principal Secretary of Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department Nand Kumar urged the CEOs and Commissioners of District Collectorates and Municipal Corporation to ensure all out of school students are sent to school within 8 days.
In a letter, Kumar said, “If I can see out of school children on the road with their migrant labor parents, then why can’t others?” Kumar has asked the heads of the Local Administrative bodies to conduct a survey of the out of school children and make sure they are admitted in school.
The instructions state each head needs to visit areas around sugar factories, brick kilns and construction sites to find out of school children. The Local Administrative Bodies then need to admit the children to the closest school. They are also ordered to issue an education guarantee card by the District.
