On the 12th of November, Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian team for the T20 Test match New Zealand tour.

After the T20 International World Cup, the new Indian squad is set to play two Test matches in New Zealand.

The Indian squad to play against New Zealand would be led by cricketer Ajinkya Rahane. The decision to make Ajinkya Rahane the team leader was taken due to the absence of Rohit Sharma, the Vice Captain of the Indian Cricket Team and Mr. Virat Kohli, the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team.

The Captain and Vice Captain of the Indian Cricket Team are busy with the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to conclude on the 14th of November. After the T20 World cup finals, they would be on rest and would join the India squad in New Zealand for the 2nd Test match and would lead the team as the Captain.

In addition, the T20 Test match would be a fresh start for the Indian Cricket Team under Mr. Rahul Dravid as the new coach of Team India. This would be the first match of Mr. Rahul Dravid as the Indian Cricket Team coach after he took over from Mr. Ravi Shastri.

The Indian Squad For Tests series against New Zealand are:

Ajinkya Rahane (c,) K.L. Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara (vc,) Shubman Gill, S. Iyer, Wriddiman Saha (WK), K.S. Bharat (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, J. Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Mohd Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.

The Test series against New Zealand is scheduled to begin from the 25th of November. India would play New Zealand in three T20Is (November 17, 19 and 21) and two Tests (November 25-29 and December 3-7.)

The first Test will be played at Kanpur and the second will take place at Mumbai.
