One of the Indian female cricketers, Ms. Mithali Raj, announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket, on the 8th of June, Wednesday.
Ms. Mithali Raj took to her social media platform to announce her retirement ending her two-decade-long illustrious career. She posted a message on the social media platform which read, “I set out as a little girl on the journey to wear the India blues as representing your country is the highest honor. The journey was full of highs and some lows. Each event taught me something unique and the last 23 years have been the most fulfilling, challenging & enjoyable years of my life.”
With this, Ms. Mithali Raj ended her glorious career with a record 7,805 runs in 232 One Day Internationals (ODIs), 12 Tests, and 89 T20 Internationals.
It is to be noted, that the 39-year-old Ms. Mithali Raj had already announced retirement from the T20 format, and her decision to stop playing all formats was expected after India’s ODI World Cup campaign ended in March.
In her goodbye post, Ms. Mithali Raj said, “Like all journeys, this one too must come to an end. Today is the day I retire from all forms of International Cricket.”
