Kane Williamson was announced as the new captain for the IPL SunRisers Hyderabad team. This announcement comes after the franchise stated David Warner stepped down as the captain of the team.
The IPL also decided to ban the two players involved in the recent ball tampering issue. David Warner and Steve Smith have both been barred from participating in the IPL. Steve Smith had said he stepped down as the captain for Rajasthan Royals. Smith will be replaced by Ajinkya Rahane as captain for the team.
During a match between South Africa and Australia Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft were involved in tampering the game ball. This cost Smith 100% of the match fee with a one Test Match ban. Cameron, on the other hand, lost 75% of the match fee and got three demerit points.
Steve Smith apologized in a shocking press conference where he admitted to tampering the ball. Bancroft was caught on camera attempting to use tape and dirt to tamper the ball. All the three cricket players were sent back home from the tour in South Africa.
