The All-India Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named Mohammad Siraj as the replacement for Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
The BCCI confirmed the same and tweeted, “Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first T20I.”
The announcement came on the 30th of September, Friday, hours after Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of Twenty 20 International against South Africa. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back stress injury, due to which he was suggested to rule out of the ongoing India V/S South Africa game and is currently undergoing medical treatment under the BCCI Medical Team’s supervision.
Earlier, before the first T20I between India and South Africa at Thiruvananthapuram, the BCCI had said that Bumrah was ruled out of Wednesday’s match after complaining of back pain during a practice session. Later, as per the medical team, Jasprit Bumrah, who is said to be suffering from a serious back injury, should rest for at least six months. With this, Jasprit Bumrah could also miss the T20 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup, set to begin in November 2022.
