Mr. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, on the 7th of February, Monday, urged the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi to accept Z category security.

Addressing the recent attack on Asaduddin Owaisi, the Union Home Minister said, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi still faces security threats, but he has been informed that the Hyderabad Member of Parliament (MP) has refused to take the CRPF protection. Mr. Amit Shah said,” ”Two unidentified people had fired on the carcade. He came out safe but there were 3 bullet marks on (the) lower portion of his vehicle. The incident was witnessed by three witnesses. An FIR has been registered.” He further added, ”Asaduddin Owaisi had no pre-scheduled event in Hapur district, no information about his movement was sent to the district control room beforehand. After the incident, he reached Delhi safely.”

It is to be noted, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi was given Z security on the 4th of February after the vehicle attack in the incident.

On the 3rd of February, while returning to Delhi from Meerut, some unidentified people shot at his vehicle. The bullet firing incident reported ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections created a political ruckus and blame game. Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi was in Meerut to campaign for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. After the incident, he took to Twitter and said, “Three to four rounds of bullets were fired upon my vehicle near Chhajarsi toll plaza when I was returning from an election-related event in Kithaur, Meerut. The incident was a well-planned conspiracy, but I escaped without injuries.” He further said, “We heard a huge bang. One was firing from a 90-degree angle and another was right opposite my door. Behind my car were my party members accompanying me in another car. They hit one of the shooters.”

Mr. Owaisi also asked the Election Commission (EC) to take strict action.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested two people in the matter.

One of the accused is Sachin, a resident of Noida who has an earlier attempt to murder case against him. While he has claimed that he holds a law degree, police are verifying this. The incident came days ahead of the elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are scheduled in 7 phases, starting from the 7th of February till the 7th of March.

The results of the elections are scheduled to be released on the 10th of March.
