Asmitha Karnani, a popular TV actor from the SouthIndia, was harassed by two men in May, 2015. She acted quickly and took their pictures and shared them on social media, asking people to share them with a message saying “Show them some love guys! SHARE SHARE SHARE”. She also tagged the Hyderabad police with the pictures.
The SHE team reacted quickly and caught the rogues responsible for the incident. Now the Hyderabad ‘SHE’ team has come up with an idea of making a 58 second commercial against Eve-Teasing. They approached Asmitha for being a part of the commercial.
Asmita responded saying that “They were very keen that they wanted me to do it when it was conceptualised. I was more than happy to be a part of it. I was thrilled to know that I did not have to play the part of a damsel in distress and instead play a cop,”
SHE team Hyderabad’s Additional Commissioner Swati Lakra has told the media that “In fact,eve-teasers are now scared that there could be a SHE team everywhere so the frequency of cases have, in fact, reduced. So there is a deterrence”, let’s hope that the new commercial which will be out soon and will be a turning point to the Police Commercials.
