The officials of Gandhi Hospital and the Telangana Police are concerned about the dead bodies of the four accused in Disha rape and murder case.

It has been 12 days since the bodies were preserved after the encounter.  They are soon expected to start decomposing, making it impossible to conduct a postmortem again.

A Cyberabad Police team led by V.C. Sajjanar, the Commissioner of Cyberabad Police, killed the four accused in an encounter.  The dead bodies of the four accused are at Gandhi Hospital, the State run government hospital.

The Hospital and the Police, as per the orders of the Supreme Court, did not hand over the dead bodies of the accused to their families.  The SC said until the hearings of the Hyderabad encounter case and the Disha rape and murder case are over, the bodies should be preserved.  The next hearing regarding the cases is scheduled on the 18th of December.

The Gandhi Hospital’s mortuary officials said with the equipment and resources available, they could manage to preserve the bodies for two more weeks by embalming them, but a postmortem cannot be conducted again if they do so.  The officials also stated they would have to shift the bodies to Delhi.

Meanwhile, the families of the accused are waiting to get the bodies so they can perform the last rites.

Stay tuned for further updates.
