A team from the Enforcement Directorate (ED,) raided a media house, The Telugu News Daily, in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, on the 7th of October, Friday.

The ED raided the media house and seized some documents related to the alleged money transactions, in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam case.  Notably, the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have registered a case against the alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy Scam 2021-2022.  The matter involves important names including media house owners, businessmen and politicians.

In addition to the Hyderabad media house, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) now known as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS,) Supremo K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family were also alleged in the scam.  In this regard, the ED conducted three raids in Hyderabad and grilled TRS leaders and businessmen associated with the Party.  Furthermore, the offices of one Abhinav Rao, a resident of Madhapur, and Sarath Chandra, a resident of Kukatpally, and a vernacular newspaper office as well as an English TV channel office, both located in Banjara Hills, were searched as part of the nationwide raids.

According to sources, there are allegations that some of the suspects in the liquor scam transferred money into the bank accounts of the media house which was later used as a conduit for money laundering.   In regard to this allegation,  the ED officials had taken up searches in some Information Technology (IT) and media companies in Hyderabad.  However, no arrest has been made in Hyderabad yet.

After the raids, it was revealed that the management of these IT companies and media houses, reportedly committed economic irregularities and would be booked under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)

Notably, the ED officials raided the houses of businessmen Abhishek Rao, Srujan Reddy, G Prem Sagar and Ramachandra Pillai in the city recently.

All of them are alleged to have close connections with top TRS leaders and Mr. K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s family members.

Moreover, the raids would continue until the ED gets substantial evidence against the companies and media houses in the Delhi liquor scam.

This is a developing story, details are awaited.
