An event manager from Gun Rock Enclave, Kharkhana was arrested by the police for cheating and assaulting a woman.
Sourav Gupta, 23 met a 23 year old woman in Jeedimetla and promised to marry her but instead assaulted her in the year 2014. After the girl pressured him to keep to his promise, Sourav married her in secret and the girl lived with the family for a while.
ACP S. Gangadhar of Mahankali reported, “The victim became pregnant but due to the ill treatment of Sourav and his family members, she underwent an abortion in 2015 at a private hospital in Secunderabad. Subsequently, she went to Dubai and joined a Telecom firm in 2016.”
Sourav kept his marriage a secret and in 2017 married yet again to a girl from Secunderabad. The victim who escaped to Dubai saw the wedding videos on YouTube and decided she wouldn’t let another girl go through the same fate that she did.
“The victim realized that Sourav has duped another woman and lodged a complaint with Jeedimetla police through an email. The case was subsequently transferred to Karkhana police,” explained the ACP.
The police called the victim from Dubai to Hyderabad and recorded her statement at Bharosa Centre. The police investigated all the claims given by the victim. They made the victim undergo a medical test and verified the hospital where she had the abortion.
Once, all the evidence was gathered against Sourav Gupta, the police filed a case. The case included more than once a violation of the Indian Penal Code. The accused was arrested on Tuesday and will be presented in court on Wednesday.
