K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA and UD) and Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Minister of Telangana, on the 19th of September, announced the Metro will soon extend to Old City, Hyderabad.

During the Telangana Assembly Budget session, KTR spoke about the Metro construction in Hyderabad and said soon, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited will start the Metro services in the Old City.

K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) also assured by the end of 2019, the HMRL will run across 66 km.

The statement of KTR was in response to Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Sridhar Babu, the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) members.  Mallu Bhatti and Sridhar, during the Assembly session, raised a question about the delay in Metro works. KTR said compared to other cities in India, the work on the Hyderabad Metro is moving at ‘brisk pace.’

The State Government spent an amount of Rs. 14,132 crores on the Metro and Rs. 3,000 crores for acquiring land.

The HMRL is the winner of 80 awards and is considered one of the best Metro services across India, with approximately 3 lakhs passengers daily.
