The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has decided to increase the fare for commuters soon.
According to sources, the HMRL is planning to increase the fare by 5% to 10% in the coming days. The new prices for the metro would depend on the report of the price fixation committee for the metros.
It is to be noted, in October, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs formed a committee, to decide and fix the fares of metros in the cities. The committee has submitted a report in this regard, following which the HMRL would impose the new fares with a hike.
Although the HMRL negotiated with the committee, demanding Rs. 100 maximum fare for a person, the final hike in fares is yet to be announced.
As of now, the minimum metro fare for the station is Rs. 10, whereas the maximum fare is Rs. 60.
