Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday unveils the 216 feet tall Statue of Equality after taking part in the rituals, on the 5th of February, Saturday.

Clad in devotional golden attire, PM Mr. Narendra Modi sat at the prayer site and then took a tour of the temple premises where replicas of 108 Vishnu temples, including Badrinath, Ayodhya, Tirumala, have been placed.  PM Modi participates in the Rudra Abhishek, ahead of inaugurating the Statue of Equality in Hyderabad.

The statue shows the saint in a seated position in padmasana with hands folded. The statue is made of ‘panchaloha’, a combination of five metals: gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc and is among one of the tallest metallic statues in sitting position, in the world. It is mounted on a 54-feet high base building, named ‘Bhadra Vedi’, has floors devoted to a Vedic digital library and research center, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery detailing many works of Sri Ramanujacharya.

The event for the inauguration of the “Statue of Equality” started today, the 2nd of February.  Launched with the money of devotees, across the globe, the Rs. 1,000 crore worth 216 feet tall statue would be a major highlight of Hyderabad.

The statue of Sri Ramanujacharya, an 11th-century Bhakti saint, and a revolutionary social reformer would be a tribute to the reformer.   Born in 1017 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, Ramanujacharya liberated millions from social, cultural, gender, educational, and economic discrimination with the foundational conviction that every human is equal regardless of nationality, gender, race, caste, or creed.  He opened the doors of temples to all people, including those subjected to extreme discrimination. He remains a timeless icon of equality for social reformists around the world,

Starting from Wednesday, the 12-day event will witness 1,035 ‘yaaga’ fire oblation, the largest in modern history along with a series of spiritual activities like mass mantra-chanting.

Under the part of Ramanuja Sahasrabdi ‘Samaroham’.  Notably, the 5th of February would mark the 1,000th birth anniversary of the saint.

Telangana Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrasekhar who is co-hosting the event with renowned spiritual guru Chinna Jeeyar Swami made all the necessary arrangements.

Several other chief ministers, politicians, celebrities, and actors also attended the function.

President Ram Nath Kovind would unveil the inner chamber of the statue of Ramanuja on the 13th of February, which would be the last day of celebration

The outdoor 216-feet statue would be one of the tallest statues in a sitting posture, it said.  The statue is made of ‘panchaloha’, a mix of five metals – gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc.

The complex has identical recreations of 108 Divya Desams, the 108 ornately carved Vishnu temples mentioned in the works of the Alwars, mystic Tamil saints.
