INC’s Chalo Assembly Protest Fails As Police House Arrest Leaders

The Indian National Congress (INC) in Telangana called for a “Chalo Assembly” on the 24th of March.

The INC leaders across Telangana called for a Chalo Assembly, to protest against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government over pending projects in the State. Of the all, pending projects of Karimnagar and the pending yearly grant of Rs. 100 crores to Vemulawada Temple, is the main reason for the protest. In 2015, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced an yearly financial assistance of Rs. 100 crores to Vemulawada Temple for its development.

However, the protest failed as the Telangana police placed many senior leaders under house arrest and prevented them from participating in the protest. Besides senior leaders, INC workers, supporters and others were also stopped and taken then into custody.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Budget Assembly session, which started on the 15th of March is scheduled to conclude on the 26th of March.

Stay tuned for further updates.
