Mr. Anjani Kumar, the former Director General of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has now officially taken over as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana.

On the 31st of December, Saturday, after the farewell of Mr. M. Mahender Reddy, the outgoing DGP of Telangana, Mr. Anjani Kumar took over as the new DGP of Telangana.

On the 30th of December, Friday, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government appointed Mr. Anjani Kumar as the next DGP of the Telugu State of Telangana.

On Saturday, Mr. Anjani Kumar assumed office as the new Director General of the Police of Telangana.

Highlighting the police career of Mr. Anjani Kumar, he belonged to the 1990 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.  Hailing from Bihar, Mr. Anjani Kumar started his police career as a police officer in the united States of Andhra Pradesh in 1992.  He was the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Jangaon in the Warangal district.  During the span of three decades, Mr. Anjani Kumar led many positions in the police force in the united Andhra Pradesh and post separation in Telangana.  

He served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Guntur and Prakasam districts and as the  DIGP of Nizamabad and Guntur ranges.  He also headed the Counter Intelligence Cell from 2007 to 2009 and was the chief of anti Maoist force Greyhounds between 2009 and 2011.

In addition, Mr. Anjani Kumar served as the police commissioner of Hyderabad from 2018 to 2021 before his appointment as Director General of ACB.

Now, Mr. Anjani Kumar took charge at state police headquarters and succeeded Mr. M. Mahendar Reddy, who demitted from office on reaching superannuation.
