Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, and other Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders staged a day long dharna in Delhi.
The sit-in protest was carried out on the 11th of April, Monday, demanding the Central Government procure paddy from the Telangana farmers as a minimum support price (MSP.) The TRS Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) Cabinet ministers, and TRS cadres staged a ‘dharna’ outside the Telangana Bhawan in Delhi.
Addressing the gathering, the TRS President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, “With folded hands, urged the Prime Minister and Union Food Minister (Mr.) Piyush Goyal to purchase food grains.” He further added, ‘I give you 24 hours, and then we will make our decision.”
The agitation between the TRS and the BJP led Central Government is continuing for over six months and now has intensified at a national level. Both the political parties are playing the blame game, asking each other to purchase the paddy from the farmers of Telangana, and also providing the minimum support price (MSP.)
