KCR Government To Auction Government Lands To Fund Welfare Schemes In Telangana

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced to auction government lands likely to be illegally encroacheds, for welfare activities in Telangana.

Considering the economical issue and low revenue due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) decided to auction lands. The announcement was made during a public event of the joining of L. Ramana, the former Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) President into the TRS.

During the event the Telangana CM expressed disappointment and anger over the criticism by the opposition party. Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, “Government got Rs. 2,000 crores by selling 40 odd acres of land. We are selling the lands at places where there is scope for encroachment. Though we are selling the lands, the money will be used for the welfare of the poor. Telangana is a surplus state and a few ‘sannasis’ are talking irresponsibly. I said earlier, Telangana employees would get more salaries than the Central government and it is a fact now.”

Highlighting the efforts of the Telangana Government for the growth and development of the State and its people, the CM said, the situation of people, especially weavers, lower class and economically weak section is getting better in the State. He spoke about the weavers community, especially and said, with the announced Weavers Insurance Scheme, the situation of theirs would be better. The scheme under the leadership of TRS Government is expected to begin in two months.

He said, “I know the difficulties of the weaver’s sector,” and assured financial assistance, schemes and insurance to them. He said, “We have helped the weavers who were committing suicides during the Telangana agitation. Soon a meeting with the elders in the weaver community will be organised. We will provide Rs. 5 lakh insurance to the kin of deceased weavers on par with (the)Rythu Bima for the farmers. The officials concerned are preparing the plan and modalities to be disclosed soon. The Weavers will get benefits through Ramana.”

Emphasising on the growth and development of Telangana, KCR said, once during the Andhra Pradesh Government reign, the GSDP was Rs. 16,000 crores, which now under the Telangana Government is Rs. 50,000 crores.

KCR said, “I will fulfil the aspirations of the people of Telangana. KCR has only one aim and that is to construct a Telangana which people aspire for. No one can change my line as there is no other aspiration for me other than the development of Telangana. We don’t have the right to commit mistakes.”

Meanwhile, the Government formed committee of four members are looking into the lands which have scope for encroachment. Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana is the chairman of the committee which has secretaries of revenue, finance, housing, MAUD (Municipal Administration and Urban Development,) Information Technology (IT) and law as members.
