G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, on the 9th of June, asked the Telangana Government to conduct random COVID-19 test in the State.

Kishan Reddy asked the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to launch household survey to identify infected persons for COVID- 19 tests in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area.

Mr. Reddy said, “The government should adopt a determined approach to end the menace.”

In a letter to K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, Kishan Reddy expressed concern over the increasing number of corona cases in his Parliamentary constituency that comes under GHMC area.  He wrote,  “The issue came up during Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan’s video conference with district collectors and municipal commissioners of 10 States where the pandemic problem is severe. She has advised the officials from Telangana on the steps to be taken to contain the dreaded virus”

He wanted the TRS Government to initiate steps to instill confidence among people by taking up more random tests to provide speedy treatment to the infected. He said the fatality rate can be reduced by identifying the old with co-morbidities to save them from sudden death. “Establish centres of excellence to help and guide the doctors and health teams. Ensure that results of random tests arrive faster so that early treatment can begin,” he said, and called for testing of people with lung issues and those who have flu like symptoms.

Kishan Reddy called for placing of highly trained medical experts in containment zones and frequent fumigation and disinfecting the zones.  He said, “Outside the containment zones, there must be strict adherence of physical distancing and wearing of masks. Even though the lockdown is partially lifted, the spirit of the lockdown must continue.”
