After the appointment of the new Indian National Congress (INC) President of Telangana, the State INC unit witnessed a turmoil in the Party.

Recently, on the evening of the 26th of June, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) appointed A. Revanth Reddy as the new President of the INC.

The INC leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy expressed disappointment and vowed not to enter Party headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan in Telangana.  Besides this, several INC leaders have resigned from the INC as they were upset over the decision of appointing A. Revanth Reddy as the new Party President.

The senior leader and former minister M. Shashidhar Reddy on Sunday resigned as Chairman of TPCC Election Commission Coordination Committee.  He sent his resignation to party President Sonia Gandhi.  In addition, another senior leader L. Lakshma Reddy resigned from the primary membership of the Party to protest against Revanth Reddy’s appointment.

In addition, Jagga Reddy, the INC leader also expressed dissatisfaction over the appointment of A. Revanth Reddy.  He further supported Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and said he could understand the emotional outburst of party MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy over not getting the TPCC president post.

Addressing the media, on the 27th of June, Jagga Reddy said, “It is quite natural for anyone who has been serving the Party for so long, 33 years.”

Meanwhile, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Bhongir, said he was also an aspirant and strong contender for the post, and alleged that appointments were from the “note for vote” scheme.   He cited a past incident and said, “In 2015, Revanth Reddy, who was then in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was caught red handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while offering Rs. 50 lakh cash to a nominated MLA to make him vote for the TDP candidate in the Legislative Council election.”  He also said, the INC Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore favoured Revanth Reddy for monetary gains.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also said he would launch a padyatra from Ibrahimpatnam to Bhuvanagiri from the 28th of June.
