KTR Extends Support To Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Protest Against Privatisation

Besides Andhra Pradesh political leaders, Telangana leaders also extended support to the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) privatisation protest.

On the 10th of March, K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) extended his support to the protesting people.

Mr. Rao said, “We stand in solidarity to the ongoing protest against privatisation of Vizag steel plant.”

The Telangana Information Technology (IT) and Industries Minister KTR took a dig at the Prime Minister Narendar Modi. He said the Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government could also privatise the state governments.

The Minister said that the steel plant through SAIL would be set up in Telangana which can provide employment opportunities to thousands of unemployed youth. However, the situation in Visakhapatnam is different as the centre is trying to sell the steel plant completely.

Mr. Rao said, “The centre’s decision would make thousands of employees homeless and the Telangana government would safeguard them. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would go to Vishakapatnam to extend direct support to the protest if necessary.”.

Moving ahead with his criticism, Mr. Rao said after RINL, the Central Government would privatise BHEL and Singareni.

Meanwhile, people of Visakhapatnam and members of the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh called for a massive protests.

Stay tuned for further updates.
