Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana inaugurated the Consumer products major Procter & Gamble (P&G)  liquid detergent manufacturing unit in Kothur, Mahabubnagar, Telangana.

Inaugurated on the 2nd of May, Monday the P&G manufacturing unit is worth Rs. 200 crores investment and is also the first liquid detergent manufacturing unit for its brand Ariel in India.   During the event, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President Mr. K.T. Rama Rao said, with this investment, the total investments by P&G made in the State have touched about Rs. 1,700 crores.  He added, “I want to congratulate P&G on the inauguration of its new liquid detergent manufacturing unit.  I thank P&G for its continued support to the communities in Telangana during the pandemic and through its P&G Shiksha program.  It is impressive to see P&G’s effort on driving gender equality and sustainability.  This plant was inaugurated by Chief Minister in 2014, and over the years, P&G has expanded its operations in the state.  We thank and look forward to P&G’s continued support & partnership in Telangana.  This is a testimony of the state’s potential, opportunity and support to the industry.”

In addition, Mr. Madhusudan Gopalan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of P&G Indian Subcontinent, said, “We are delighted to announce the start of our first liquid detergents manufacturing unit in Hyderabad.  We strategically chose Hyderabad to be the location for expanding our operations as it provides an investor-friendly environment and best-in-class facilities enabled by the government.  We thank the Minister of Industries KTR and the Telangana government for their support in setting up this state-of-the-art manufacturing unit which will enable us to serve the consumers across the country.”

It is to be noted that the Hyderabad site is P&G’s largest manufacturing plant in India spread across 170 acre at Kothur.

Taking pride in this achievement, KTR said that the company used 35% of the land and there is scope for it to create employment for about 10,000 people as it invests further. He also appreciated the company for supporting the State with Rs. 6 crore worth donations including masks and sanitisers in its fight against the Wuhan virus pandemic.
